Dor (Father Time)
Dor lived in an era when there was no measuring of time. Begining as a child, Dor was very interested in measuring what came to be known as time. God, knowing what would happen to the human race once time was discovered, punished Dor and imprisoned him in a cave. Dor spent six thousand years in his imprisonment, never getting any older, listening the the voices on earth who suffer from time. They need more time, or time to go faster, or for time to stop. After his punishment has been completed, Dor is allowed back in the world to help two people understand time: Victor, who wants time to go slower, and Sarah, who wants time to go faster.
Sarah is a smart, overweight teenage girl with divorced parents and a fantasy of love. She meets Ethan, a popular boy, and immediately falls head over heels for him. She wants time to go faster as she impatiently waits for their dates--all of which Ethan cancels. When she finds out Ethan doesn't love her back and laughs about her with his friends, she is so heartbroken that she tries to commit suicide. Dor, who is Father Time, comes to her aid and brings her into the future to see what her death would cause. Sarah feels guilty for all the people she would hurt and ends up surviving her attempted suicide.
As the world's fourteenth-richest man, Victor knows that the only thing that can mar his fortune is his health. So when he gets a tumor and his kidneys begin to fail, he researches every cure option known to man. It isn't until he is pronounced to only have three more months to live that he researches immortality. Cryonics, the freezing of oneself for later reanimation, comes up when he researches immortality. He is about to go into be frozen when Dor brings him into the future to show him what his life would be like if he froze himself with cryonics.He sees his life would be miserable, since his fortune would be gone, and he decides not to freeze himself.
